Fashion Favorites: Patty's Closet
You all know that I love dresses ! Short dresses, long dresses, floral dresses, colored dresses... you name it. So when I saw this black and white striped maxi dress over at Patty's Closet, I just knew I had to try it on. I usually don't wear stripes because one, black and white stripes remind me of Beetlejuice. Two, if you have a curvy figure, it can accentuate your figure even more, and sometimes in a bad way! Although I love my body, sometimes I get a bit skeptical to wear anything that shows off how curvy I really am. Since I'm so short and I wear flowy tops/dresses a majority of the time, some people think I'm stick thin, when in all actuality that's not the case. LOL. I'm not fat or too skinny, but just right in the middle of the two. Still, a girl can't help feel a bit self conscious.
To my surprise, I reallllllllllllllllllllly liked this dress ! What's great about it is that the stripes didn't all go one direction. With the mix of horizontal and vertical stripes, the dress actually helped accentuate my curves in a way that made me feel comfortable and confident :)
And the slit! My goodness that slit! I loved how this particular maxi dress had a slit in it. Being as short as I am, sometimes dresses that have slits go up higher on my leg than it's meant to. However, this dress had a slit in it that was just the right length.
I also really liked that the fact that this dress came with the belt. (FYI: Things that I look for in a dress are extra accessories, like a belt or pockets!) Because the belt was brown, I matched it with my brown heels from ShoeDazzle. Yes, I know I need to feature different shoes, but I just LOVE these! They give me height and are just so comfortable to walk in !
I wanted to stick to the color palette, so I chose my white floral necklace (Also, from Patty's Closet) to match with my fit. It gave my outfit just an extra oomph of girliness :)
Overall, this outfit is great and I see it as a versatile piece. I could wear it on a date night with my boyfriend or a night out with my friends. If I switch the shoes to a pump and add a blazer, I could even wear it to a cocktail party or a formal dinner. I could even wear this dress with sandals and it'd be great for a lunch date or a day shopping with the girls.
